# Console & Server Controls

> How to control server power, read real-time console logs, and execute commands in Pterodactyl

The **Console** page is the main command center for starting, stopping, and monitoring your live scripts, bots, or game servers in real time.

## 1. Server Power Controls

In the upper-right corner of the Console page, you will find 4 power buttons:

* **Start**: Powers on the server from an offline state.
* **Restart**: Safely restarts the server. Recommended after modifying configuration files or `.env` variables.
* **Stop**: Initiates a graceful shutdown, giving your application time to save data and close database connections.
* **Kill**: Instantly terminates the container process. Use this **only** if the server is frozen/hanging and the Stop button does not respond.

  Avoid frequent use of the **Kill** button while your application is writing to files or databases, as sudden termination may cause data corruption.

## 2. Server Status Indicators

You can view the current status of your server in the header:

* **Offline**: Server is powered down and consuming zero CPU/RAM.
* **Starting**: Server is initializing the container and executing startup scripts.
* **Running**: Server is active and operational.
* **Stopping**: Server is gracefully shutting down.

## 3. Live Resource Monitoring

Above the terminal console, real-time resource meters display:

* **CPU**: Processing capacity currently used by your server.
* **Memory (RAM)**: Current RAM usage against your package limit. Keep usage below 100% to avoid Out of Memory (OOM) crashes.
* **Disk**: Storage space consumed by your server files.
* **Network**: Real-time inbound (download) and outbound (upload) transfer rates.

## 4. Sending Console Commands

To send commands directly to your application:

1. Click on the command input bar at the bottom of the black terminal screen.
2. Type your command.
3. Press **Enter** on your keyboard to send.
